Easter bunny festivities will be here quickly. Coming up with Easter basket ideas for toddler girls and all the kids in your family is so much fun. Easter holds an important Biblical meaning. We celebrate this meaning every year as a family. We begin Easter morning with a church service followed by lunch, the gifting of the kids' Easter baskets, and of course the Easter egg hunt. Everyone has a great time.
The Easter egg hunt is a wonderful way to use our farm-fresh eggs. We color the Easter eggs usually the day before the Easter egg hunt. We involve most of our family members in the Easter egg hunt. The adults will hide the eggs and the kids will hunt until all of the eggs are collected. The older adults will watch from the sidelines and shout out encouragement to the egg hunters. This is a great opportunity to get all ages involved.
We most often will use naturally dyed eggs for the hunt, however, we have used plastic eggs that allow us to insert a sweet treat into the plastic egg. Or a combination of both types of eggs. We have also put coins inside the plastic eggs or taped to the outer shell of the hard-boiled egg. The coins later go into a bank that is kept for each child.
Easter basket ideas for toddler girls include activities to do and eat. I do not want a lot of leftover clutter and neither do their parents so it is important to actually be able to use the items that are included in an Easter basket. There are a number of different options to use as Easter basket stuffers. I like to have activities such as Easter-themed games.
Easter Basket Ideas that include Books
Books are another option. Kids of all ages love Easter books. Toddlers love to have books read to them and alternately look at the pictures on their own. A board book works well for this age group. Board books are especially sturdy and toddlers will not be able to accidentally rip pages. We do not always buy new books. I find seasonal holiday books at thrift stores, children's resale stores or purchased inexpensively from the holiday markdown section from the previous Easter.
Easter Basket Ideas using Coloring and Activity Books
Coloring and activity books with crayons are fun Easter basket ideas. I have included a card game and sidewalk chalk as favorite Easter basket ideas in the past. I have created coloring pages made into an activity book that helps with tracing and coloring for a toddler. Craft supplies are always popular choices with all ages from toddlers on up.
Toys that are included in a toddler Easter basket should be of good quality. We try to stay away from plush toys and focus on toys that can be used over and over and then passed on to others. Wooden toys are an option if you are looking for durability. You want toys that will be fun to use without a lot of small pieces especially for toddlers. We want to find fun toys that are well-made and will last. It is always a good feeling to be able to pass down well-made toys to other kids.
Themed Easter Basket Ideas
We have included useful items such as a new water bottle or items for the upcoming warm Summer season as Easter basket stuffers. One of the best Easter basket ideas I have put together in the past involved a theme related to Summer. That Easter basket included a rolled up bathing suit, flip-flops, sun hat, and goggles for underwater adventures. This was a fun way to provide some needed and necessary items and the kids loved taking each item out of their basket and talking about the adventures they would have when the warmer weather arrived.
Another Easter basket theme I have used was one for a child that loved art and drawing. I included a tablet of drawing paper, colored pencils, pencil sharpener, and eraser. I included a small bag that could hold all of the drawing supplies. The child who received this basket was so excited.
Themed baskets might include whatever your child has in interest in. This can be a popular choice for all age groups. Determine the theme and what types of items would work best for the child. The age of the child matters. Consult parents on what kids actually need and use that as a basis for a themed basket.
Another great Easter basket idea for a toddler girl was a princess dress up themed Easter basket. I included hair ties, hair bows, fancy ballerina tutu, princess-themed book, and a tiara. This was fun to create and it was fun for the little girl to open and play with. Themes that allow for creativity of the child are important.
Candy and Treats
Candy can be a popular choice as an idea for Easter baskets. I usually include a small amount of traditional Easter candy such as jelly beans or chocolate bunnies depending on the age of the child. The kids love the Easter treats. We do not purchase candy very often for our grandkids, but holidays are usually the exception to that rule.
Easter-themed cookies are another sweet treat you might offer. These types of treats can be homemade (my favorite) or purchased from the bakery section of your favorite grocery store. Some Easter holidays I have had more time and I could create the perfect Easter treat. Other years it was busier and I purchased ready-made treats. I do not think my family noticed the difference.
These are some easy ways to create Easter baskets that will be useful and fun. Many of the ideas listed could be adapted for any age group. You could easily create these Easter basket ideas for toddler girls and really any age group. It just requires a little imagination. Easter baskets can be perfect gifts and a way to celebrate the beauty of the Easter season.
