It's a busy world we live in. There are so many distractions. A couple of years ago we moved to a 120-year old farmhouse on a few acres of land. We made an intentional choice to do this and focus on a more simple life. Faith, meals cooked from scratch, gardening, healthier choices, and becoming more self-sufficient has been a learning experience. I would like to share some of things we do here on our little homestead.
I lived in a little farmhouse many years ago as a child. I loved the animals, gardens, and the freedom to play outside and never be bored.
When we moved to our small farmhouse in 2018, I finally felt that same feeling of contentment I felt as a kid on a farm. We added chickens in 2019. We use the fresh eggs daily and give a fair amount away to family and friends. Nothing tastes better than farm fresh eggs.
I'm a farm girl at heart. I love walking around the property with my husband, planning what we will plant next. Our grandchildren love to swim in the pond and nurture the chickens.
I love to cook a simple hearty meal from scratch. I enjoy cleaning with essential oils to keep chemicals out of our home. I like to putter around in the herb garden, finding just what I need for dinner that night.
Maybe you feel a need to slow down and focus on what is really important too. Read on. Maybe you will find some useful ideas to simplify your life too.
