I have talked before about essential oils and how well, essential they are. I didn’t always think so. In the beginning I was a sceptic. I have been a nurse for a number of years, and I was used to prescription medicine for everything that ails someone. Like so many people I had been indoctrinated to seek a pill for every symptom I might have.
Sometimes going to the doctor, I would have to fend off more prescriptions. If I said I didn’t sleep well last week, I was offered a sleep aid. If I had an ache in my knees, I was offered an anti-inflammatory. To be honest before essential oils I sometimes took my doctors up on their offers. I mean we are all told if we have any discomfort it must be taken way. Am I right about this?
Sometimes I would think like that as well. Now I better understand that as humans, our Creator might have wanted us feel things. After all, if I had taken my physician up on his kind offer of a sleep aid medication, I might never have realized I had untreated sleep apnea. Acknowledging the ache in my knee enabled me to slow down and let it heal and prevent further damage.
Traditional VS Natural
As I was educated about the endless possibilities that are present with essential oils, I realized oils could safely help with a multitude of physical, mental, and emotional needs. The next time you rub some Lavender between your fingers and inhale the fragrant smell, or you hike through the woods and smell the scent of pine trees, breathe deeply because this is the power of essential oils at work! This is what we can each experience each day with the power contained within each tiny bottle of oil.
Oils can be applied topically, diffused, and taken internally. Of course, there are guidelines for each type of use. It is important to be educated from a reputable source about safety guidelines. I will make sure I discuss this in more depth in a future post.
I chose Young Living for my essential oils after researching how important the quality of the end product was. If I was going to integrate these oils into my home and use them on me and my family, I wanted to know they were safe to use. This company clearly explains the process that is used from beginning to end.
I was interested in a more natural approach that would allow me to eliminate harmful chemicals around my home, improve my wellness, and incorporate healthier practices into my life. I found all of that and more with essential oils. There are so many oils I use on a daily basis. The oils are safe for all ages and even pets.
Peppermint
Let me give you some examples of the ways I use essential oils every day. I often roll on some Peppermint in the morning to help me feel energized before starting my day.
NingXia Red
I use a supplement called NingXia Red which includes juices and extracts from superfruits such as aronia, plum, blueberry, and pomegranate, plus a whole-fruit puree of exotic wolfberries. This delicious supplement helps prepare me for a busy day.
Lavender
I love to use Lavender. There are so many uses for this oil. The one I use the most is to combine Lavender and Cedarwood to diffuse while I am sleeping. This helps me fall asleep quicker and stay asleep longer. I notice if I forget to fill my diffuser with lavender before bedtime. Lavender seems to have a positive effect on mood and can help with calming emotions. This calming effect seems to work with anyone from kids to adults and even the pets!
Thieves
I love Thieves essential oil. It is a blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils. This is one powerful oil. I use it topically when I am feeling under the weather. Thieves was my first experience with essential oils and is still one of my favorites. It helped me during a stressful time. I wrote about it here: http://www.savingmoneylivingfaithfully.com/essential-oils/
There are Thieves cough drops that I swear by during cold and cough season. I clean with Thieves cleaner every day and use Thieves laundry detergent in my washing machine. It is hard to find a harder working oil than Thieves.
Lemon
Lemon is another oil that I usually frequently. I love the citrusy smell. I use it to clean and freshen. It is very uplifting and makes your home smell great when diffused. There’s nothing quite like the smell of fresh lemons.
These are just a few of the many essential oil products I use on a daily basis. There is truly something for everyone. All ages, all needs.
Better Health
We all want to be healthier. We all want a way to accomplish that safely. God created the plants and trees on our earth. Essential oils are used in the Bible. Young Living has derived a way to extract the goodness from the plants and trees. These extractions are at the heart of all essential oil products. I don’t know about you but to me the fact that something has been in use for that long reassures me that essential oils are good for my family as well.
These awesome oils can help support our emotional and physical health every single day. We all have stress in our life everyday. There is an option to help with the every-day stressors of life. We can choose something pure.
Conclusion
I will continue to write more about essential oils and the potential impact they can have on everyone who uses them. This topic is so important. Once you use essential oils and experience the benefits that come from their use, you will be telling everyone you know about them as well.
I chose Young Living for my essential oil products because I wanted a company that stood by their products. The Seed to Seal process that is used by Young Living is a good way to explain the safety and purity of their products. It was important to me to know the company would be there in the future. When I have questions about safety or use, this company has a number of resources I can turn to or direct others too.
This is the first post in a series I will be doing about essential oils. If you have questions, please let me know. I will try to answer some common questions in each of the upcoming posts about this topic.
